So today was
our first full day here at the Crystal waters. So everybody met up
for brekky at 7:30 in the morning. Everyone came to breakfast to find
out that Zelynne went to the hospital cause she fell in the morning
when she went with others to find the Platypus. And later on she
comes back 9 stitches deep. Well anyways, after brekky we headed up
the hill to the Eco-Center where Max gave us a little semi-lecture
explaining the background of the Eco-Center for the first part of the
lecture. Then, after the first part we took a little break for some
“morning tea”. Had tea the way the British would have it by
throwing in some milk. We fancy. On top of that I threw in some of
Max’s homemade honey. It was quite wonderful. Nom nom nom. After
the break Max put us into groups and sent us out to different
locations to grab different types of plants, flowers, leaves, etc.
and got into the permaculture part by explaining how everything was
related. Once we finished with the semi-lecture was lunchtime. Lunch
here is quite different, salad and bread was basically it. Once we
finished up with lunch we got a little break to prepare for our
little walk that ended up being a trek. Went on to tour all of East
Crystal Waters. Some of the more interesting things on this hike were
when we saw Max’s `cows and picked some potatoes. Max’s cows were
well disciplined compared to some other resident’s cows. For
instances some other persons cows all went over the fence into Max’s
property towards us. Later on those cows owner came over and
struggled to get them back into his part of the land. Most of us left
while he was attempting to do that since it was just about
dinnertime. Dinner was so delicious. Trudi made us tons of
Spaghetti. Everybody basically ate way too much. I for sure did. I
was so full I almost couldn’t eat dessert, just couldn’t pass on
that. I knew I was going regret it since we were going on a night
walk after dinner. The night was basically the same as the walk
earlier in the day, but just a litter scarier since we did most of
the walk in pure darkness most of the time. We did this so we get a
feel of a more natural wilderness feeling since if the lights were on
we would have probably scared most of the wild away.
