Manly Beach

Today we went to the Manly Beach today to the environmental center. It was really interesting with every one's perspectives and participation in the Manly area. There were really good things mentioned for example, a man who runs the Eco Dives was saying that with the nets that they put in to block out the sharks, are detrimental to the other animals and when he comes by an animal stuck he will cut it out and he said, "sue me, if there's a stuck animal I'm cutting it out." All the members were really passionate about the environment. There was a retired art teacher that runs the penguin conservation started out with just helping the center, then branching out to the penguins, then fully volunteering to be watching out for the endangered tribe on Manly. We also got to see a Co-op run by the center where they sell organic, sustainable food. They don't use any unnecessary packaging and don't use suppliers that use that as well. It was really interesting. We then went to the beach and even though it was overcaste a couple of us still went in the water, it was much warmer than if we did it in the states. I thought it was a lot of fun and luckily had a waterproof camera so I took a couple of pictures which I will post later. It was a blast, maybe we will go back on our free day, sunday.
