Tonight is the groups last night together! Most everyone is leaving for home tomorrow but five of us are sticking around for an extra week in the sun. We all had a little chat last night and I thought it would be a good idea to make a list of things we miss about home, things we will miss about Australia, and lessons we’ve learned here. We’ve had such a great time here! It’s been and awesome past couple of weeks but I think we’re all starting to miss home a little. This is what we came up with for our lists, everyone contributed one or two things:
Things we miss about home:
- My bed
- My car
- Watching football
- Cheap EVERYTHING (drinks, food, etc.)
- Family & friends
- Free internet
- Easy communication with family and friends (no time zone changes or lack of internet & cell phone)
- Not living out of a suitcase
- ICE water, for free..
- Roommates & home cooked meals
- No poisonous snakes, bugs, or ticks
- No bug bites (which we all have all over our bodies right now!)
Things we will miss about Australia
The wildlife (kangaroos, rainforests, koalas, wallabies, etc.)
Amazing views
Australian accents
Warm weather
The Opera House
New adventures
4:30 am platypus outings (for those of us who don’t like to sleep in)
Tropical rain
Bats
Traveling across the country
Taking pictures
All the new friends we’ve made
Public transportation
Eco village cooking
Lessons learned from our time in Australia
Pack lightly
Australian English is NOT American English…they are two very different things…
There are are 2.2 lbs in 1 kg (thinking about packing for the airplanes)
There are 1.6 km in 1 mile (estimating walking distances)
The US should just use the metric system and make everyones lives easier
Its been such a great trip and hopefully those of us who are leaving tomorrow will travel safely and actually be able to fly into Seatac on time!! Good luck everyone=)
