Port Douglas time baby! These past two days have been some of the best of the trip, as far as sight seeing going I think. Yesterday we went to go snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, talk about cool! I feel so luck to be able to have this opportunity to see amazing place! We went with a company called Quicksilver, so seems to be invested in keeping the reef alive. Our snorkeling tour consisted of three stops, the Nursery, Barracuda, and Turtle Bay. Unfortunately I did not see a sea turtle while snorkeling, but I guess it just gives me an excuse to go snorkeling again sometime! We had to wear these suits to protect us from the stingers )jelly fish) who are in mating season right now. It turned out to be a really good thing because we did see quite a few jelly's and we would have all been scorched on our backs by the end of the day. People, myself included did become part lobster that day, but luckily my burn isn't too bad! The Reef was amazing though. We were able to see some many fish of all different shape, size, color. It was so cool to be able to swim with a school of fish! I was even able to see a shark at the second stop. He was about 4 or 5 feet long I think. It was such an amazing experience, one that I will never forget in my life!
Today we went to an aboriginal cultural center and Hatley's crocodile far. The aboriginal center was very interesting, and we learned quite a bit. I was able to throw a spear and a boomerang. Someone showed us how to play a didgeridoo but I was really not good at that! At the crocodile farm we were able to see a lot of animals including crocodiles, koalas, wallaby's, and much more! It was great to see all these animals who are native to Australia!
