ADVENTURES

These past couple days have been quite interesting. Our first night in hunter valley I got bit by some insect that caused pain from my thigh down to my knees. However, we hung out at the pool any chance we got. The second day we were there we went to a couple winery and breweries. The first winery we went to was the only organic winery. It was really interesting to learn the ways they kept everything organic, and went through so many measures to keep it organic. For example, extensive amounts of compost, reusing their water source, etc. It was amazing. The next winery we went to was a little different and used sprays, it was nice to be able to compare the different types of methods they use. The brewery was fun, it was short, nice, and informative. I had no idea that they had to add so many ingredients separately.
Our flight from Sydney to Brisbane was short but very turbulent, I got sick. But skipping the nitty gritty, we got to the eco village, and it is just like summer camp. There are a lot of bugs, frogs, loud annoying birds, and snakes. I'd say that everyone was really shocked. However, we have learned a lot since being here. Especially in the engineering aspect to the eco center, which is made of timber and earth, basically. It is very sustainable.
Last on the list, a few of us decided to get up early to catch a glimpse of the platypus. At about 5 30 am I was by myself walking along the side of the creek searching, when I slid, rolled my ankle and fell on my knee. My immediate concern was my rolled ankle, because when I initially went to check my knee my pants weren't ripped so I assumed it was fine. However, when I eventually got to the road, I noticed my pants were wet, I thought it might've been because I fell in the water, but when I went to touch it, I realized that it was actually blood. At that point my knee was bleeding pretty badly. It was a short walk from the bridge to the eco center, so I walked back, in hopes that someone would be there except that it was 6 am. I sat there for about 10 minutes hoping someone would come by. While waiting I decided to check my knee out so I went to the bathroom and when I pulled my pants down I came to a nasty surprise of a huge bloody gash on my knee. I instantly knew I needed to get stitches so my main objective was to find someone to take me to the hospital. Luckily at about 6 30 am a lady nearby drove to check up on her horses, so I walked over to her car and she drove me to Max's house (the founder of Crystal Waters) and we decided that I needed to go to the hospital to get stitches. I ended up getting 9 stitches, and haven't been able to do anything physical for the past day. It's been a great experience being here...
