Today we toured a few different Hunter Valley organizations… We started out at Tamerlane Winery, Gordon Ballard walked us around the whole property and got to see the whole process they go thru while producing their wines. He explained how we are all essentially organic and how in 100 years we too are going to be compost as much as we don’t want to think about it, it’s the truth. I really loved meeting more people who expressed their passion for sustainability and getting to see how each tied sustainability into their businesses. Tamberlane has been a certified organic winery for 21 years, which is very impressive. I liked hearing about how the winery uses organic thinking in all aspects of their business from using paper for compost, reusing wooden planks, using solar power to run their water filtration system, and even using weeds as compost as well. After tasting a few wines at Tamberlane (and making a few purchases), we moved along to Robyn Drayton Winery and got to see the differences in sustainability… After departing from there we took a lunch break and then stopped at a cheese & gelato factory. Our last winery of the day was Savanah Estate Wines, and we got to taste more wines produced in Australia. Our last stop of the day was at the Hunter Beer Co. where we got to learn the process of beer making and what not…. It was such a good day!!!!! Lots of fun!
